Hemet Unified School District’s Nutrition Services team is working to ensure more students start their day fueled and ready to learn. As part of their strategic action plan, the department has set a goal to increase average breakfast participation by 7.5% across all school sites by May 2026, using monthly meal participation data to guide their progress. Family Reading Night was a rousing success! Shout out to Ms. Tarlos, Ms. Perez, and Mrs. Gogo for preparing their scholars to perform. All of the student performers were amazing! Special thanks to Miss Jessica for serving as our emcee, Mrs. Connell and Ms. McGowan for working as greeters, Mrs. Kelly for hosting the student poetry and art exhibits in the library, Cottonwood's PTO for coordinating a bake sale and tamale sales for our hungry audience, and Ms. Hollenkamp and Mr. Trudel for supporting the evening. Here is a quick look at the week ahead. Students in grades 5-8 have a college field trip on Monday to Cal State San Marcos. The bus leaves at 8:30 a.m. wear comfortable walking shoes. The CTE Class is going to Legoland on Wednesday and the bus will be leaving at 8:30, please make sure to arrive on time. Boys Soccer and Girls Softball will be practicing Monday-Thursday, from 3:15-4:30 p.m. The Arts Integration Team will be on campus on Thursday and Friday. This is a wonderful opportunity for our scholars to participate in a variety of art forms. See you all on Monday an hour earlier than usual since we have Daylight Savings Time on Sunday. #TheHUSDWay #CottonwoodCougars
